Wayfarer Anki's Madagascar:
Lemurs & Legends
May 23- 30, 2025
Manao ahoana! (Hello in Malagasy). Embark on this captivating Madagascar trip, where you'll explore the island's unique wildlife, lush landscapes, and vibrant culture.
Starting in Madagascar's capital, Antananarivo, your journey begins with a warm welcome and hotel transfer. The next destination is the enchanting Andasibe National Park, renowned for hosting the largest living lemur species - the Indri Indri. Their haunting calls echo through the rainforest canopy each morning, creating an unforgettable wilderness experience.
At the Peyreiras reserve, you'll encounter a remarkable collection of Madagascar's unique wildlife, including chameleons, frogs, and various reptiles. The adventure continues with a picturesque boat journey along the Pangalanes Channel to reach Ankanin'ny Nofy, a peaceful oasis where nature thrives undisturbed. This serene location offers the rare opportunity to spot the mysterious Aye-Aye during nighttime excursions, along with other nocturnal creatures that call Madagascar home.
The final leg of your journey returns you to Antananarivo, where you'll explore the city's rich history through visits to significant sites like the Rova (Queen's Palace), perched majestically on the city's highest hill. The palace complex offers stunning views over the capital and provides fascinating insights into Madagascar's royal history. Before departure, you'll have time to browse local markets for authentic Malagasy crafts, including intricate woodcarvings, embroidered textiles, and precious stones, allowing you to take a piece of this extraordinary island's culture home with you.
Ankitha, the curator, is a fearless traveller and storyteller with a passion for going where few others have gone. Journeying through 106 countries across all seven continents, she immerses herself in the world’s most remote, overlooked, and complex corners. Her travels and curated itineraries are about unearthing stories and the beauty of cultures that are often misunderstood or unseen.

At the heart of responsible travel is supporting local communities and preserving nature... but something else I have always believed in is the importance of championing underrated destinations and finding different ways of seeing the world!
My underrated group adventures might see you exploring lost UNESCO sites, sitting down for a home-cooked meal with a local family or watching wildlife after a hike.
The one thing they always have in common is that they’re uncommon.
