Why We Chose Templation in Cambodia
After a few budget stays in Vietnam, I wanted to treat myself during our Cambodia leg—and Templation by MAADS was just what we needed. This 5-star boutique property near Angkor Wat blends luxury, nature, and Khmer culture, making it the perfect balance between relaxation and heritage.
First Impressions & Check-In Experience
A quick 20-minute drive from the airport brought us to this tranquil oasis. We were greeted with cold towels, welcome drinks, and a sweet treat while the staff prepped our room.
Covid safety was fully in place, and the staff’s kindness and care stood out—especially when they checked in on me after I sprained my ankle.
The staff were so courteous, friendly and thoughtful; I sprained my leg during a hike and they kept checking on me to make sure I had everything I needed to rest my ankle. Our minds were at ease from the second we set foot here.
Location: 10 Minutes from Angkor Wat
The resort’s proximity to Angkor Wat was a game-changer. We woke at 4:45 a.m. and reached the temples by 5:00 a.m., skipping the long drives others endure. Trust me, with Cambodia’s heat, being close by matters!
Sustainability Practices
Templation is part of the MAADS group, known for sustainability and supporting local communities. Eco-conscious decor, local staff, and minimal environmental footprint make it an ethical luxury option.
**Entrance **
Another one of my favorite areas in the property was the waterfall pathway. As we made our way through the entrance, we first heard the waterfall before we saw it. Talk about a jungle oasis.

The room is fully equipped with a massive king bed, toilet and bathroom, and all amenities like coffee and beverages.
The classic bamboo furniture elevated the small space to the next level. There were so many thoughtful touches like mosquito repellent and hair gel.
To complete the glamping set up, there was an outdoor terrace with a private plunge pool overlooking the garden. Ufff!

The pool area is definitely the show stopper here. Such a great space to kick back and rest too.. including two chairs and sun loungers. We ordered our food to the room one evening and just had a date night here. The perfect end to a fabulous stay. Trust me, when that Cambodian humidity hits, you will want to dive right in and stay there!

Final Thoughts
Templation offers a private luxury experience that feels authentic and sustainable. Its peaceful ambiance, exceptional staff, and eco-friendly design made our Cambodia trip extra memorable.
The whole resort had a zen vibe about it. It was fantastic way for us to escape the tourist crowds at the temple, yet it was at just the right distance from the city center.
Pro tip: Stay at least 3 nights to truly unwind and explore. We left feeling rested, cared for, and fully immersed in the Cambodian charm.
